March 20th Q.O.T.D.

One of the ways Christians can view why bad things happen to good people is so that good people get better (or godly!).  God uses suffering to strengthen His people.  Therefore think a bit about your own life and then give us a comment on what lessons about God or life you have learned through hard times or suffering or confusion.  Thanks.

P.S. Q.O.T.D. is "Question of the Day".

  1. Back in 2008, when my dad had his open heart surgery, I did some thinking about this question, but it took months to come up with the answers, which proves that not everything God does is readily explainable. The first and most important reason I think that God had with this was saving my Dad's life. His condition was under the radar, and it can act up and simply cause someone to drop dead in moments of extreme exertion. Now, he is better than he was before, and I cant help wondering if he'd still be alive right now if God hadn't brought his condition to the table. Secondarily, I learned that God never gives us more than we can bear. I was confused and worried, yes, but I think that God gave me just enough trouble and confusion to build up my faith, and not so much that I lost faith in Him. These are my thoughts.

  2. Since an early age, I have been made fun of because of my weight. In elementary school the kids would call me names and it really got to me and I would try to say words back that weren't very nice either. they continued it and i would sometimes cry myself to sleep. when i got into junior high, it continued but not as bad. in high school, freshman year was bad and then by the end of sophomore year people stopped caring and not really making fun of each other. but through all this, i realized that i need to love me just the way God made me because in his eyes, I am special. Yes i might not be the skinniest person ever, but people have told me I have many other traits that are good about me and my personality. I have seen that those people who make fun of others do it because they themselves have been hurt in the past and just need to take it out on people or they are getting bullied right now. I have also seen I need to be the bigger person and not say words back that would hurt them but be a good person and love them and care for them even though they might be my enemy or I really don't like them. I believe that Church events and God have really helped me to realize all this stuff because without God and Jesus I wouldn't be where I am today.
